Sorting

After the folding process is finished, the signatures will then be taken for collation. Depending on the chosen binding method, the collator will arrange the signatures in the correct page sequence. Subsequently, these stacks of signatures will be taken to the collation machine, where the individual signatures are organized into their appropriate page sequence. These newly arranged stacks of signatures are now called "book blocks."
